Reflection
Trails 2000 a non profit organisation that ten Sophomore students got paired with over there Sophomore inspire week. I was one of those ten students my name is Logan Zick and over this experience of getting to help with Trails 2000 I had so much fun surveying trails, and getting my hands dirty working on a new trail out by Three Springs. On our first day we went to the Durango Nature Studies and helped Emma our Trails 2000 mentor survey the trails out there. We broke up into five groups of two and made five trail sections for us to survey. The way we served the trails was first we would walk about hundred to two hundred feet we would then stop and find the grade of the trail the width and take a picture and ay notes we had about the trail.
We did this for our entire section, and at the end we made a trail report about all the trails we served so we could give it to Trails 2000 to look over and give feedback to the Durango Nature Studies. On our second day we went out to Three Springs and helped smooth out a new trail that they had just built. That involved us using rakes picks and other tools to smooth out and make the trail more defined, and professional. We spent the whole day working on this two and half mile long trail. In the end we didn’t finish the trail because we had to get back to school, but we did fix most of the trail and definitely got a good workout from it. In the end I learned a lot about trail maintenance and design and the process any trail to be goes through inordoor to make a trail posible. I had such a blast this week I hope that they keep Trails 2000 as an option next year.
